Mr Abanindra M Misra
Vice President, Raw Materials & CSI

Mr A M Misra joined Tata Steel in 1973 as a Graduate Trainee after completing his B.E (Mechanical Engineering). He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur in 1981. Mr Misra has also attended the General Management Programme in CEDEP (INSEAD, France).

He's currently the Vice President, Raw Material & CSI. Mr Misra worked with the Steel Plant operations serving in different posts of a Technical Officer, Asst. Superintendent (Production Planning), Divisional Manager (Foundries), and Executive Officer. He was also the Vice President (Human Resources). In the year 2001 he was appointed Asst. General Manager to lead the Performance Ethic Programme, underpinning the HR strategy of the company in the years ahead.

Prior to his appointment as Vice President (HR), he was the General Manager of West Bokaro Colliery Division of Tata Steel, where he was responsible for the mining and beneficiation of coal for captive consumption of the Steel plant as well as for sale of surplus coal to external customers. During his tenure West Bokaro Colliery was awarded the Qimpro National Benchmark in coal mining practices.

He has been the past Chairman of the Institute of Indian Foundry men, Jamshedpur chapter and has also been the past Chairman of CII Bokaro & Dhanbad Council.

Mr A M Misra led the Total Quality Movement in Tata Steel from 1996 to 2000. During his tenure, Tata Steel won the coveted JRD Quality Value Award, and several other awards. He has also attended a course on TQM conducted by JUSE, Japan, and has been a Sr. Assessor for the JRD QV Award process.
