Tata Steel Celebrates Odia New Year's Day

Bhubaneswar, April 15, 2009

Tata Steel celebrated the Odia New Year Day and Maha Bisubha Milan by hosting several programmes atJoda in Keonjhar district and Duburi in Jajpur on 14th April 2009 with much enthusiasm and gaiety. Morethan 1000 villagers from 100 periphery villagers from both the districts participated in the function. Aspart of the celebration various events like debate, essay writing, drawing, rangoli and tribal dance wereconducted for three days prior to the main function on 14th April 2009.

The Odiya New Year celebration at Sansailo near Duburi in Jajpur district was graced by Padmashree Dr Tulsi Munda as the Chief Guest, where she distributed the prizes to the winners in different competitionsheld during the celebration. On the occasion she appreciated the role of Tata Steel in involving theperiphery villagers in the celebrations and emphasized for development of better values and culture fordevelopment of Orissa. The said celebration at Joda was graced by famous Jaganath litterateur PanditSurya Naryan Rath Sharma.

On the said occasion Tata Steel felicitated eminent personalities of both Jajpur and Keonjhar district fortheir contribution in various fields. Dr Niranjan Satpathy, Dr Achutananda Pati, Dr Girija Prasad Basu, DrNanada Kishore Singh, Sri Ranjan Kauraun and Ms Susmita Behera were felicitated in Jajpur for theircontribution in the field of literature and sports. Mr Maguni Charan Kuanar, Prof Madhab Mishra, SriJiten Majhi and Ms Jhili Parida were felicitated in Keonjhar for their contribution in the filed of culture,literature and sports.
