Tata Steel provides drinking water facilities to the rural community

Jamshedpur, June 18, 2013

To fetch a pot of drinking water, people in rural areas, particularly women have to walk long distances every day just to reach a water-source like hand pump. Due to lack of alternate sources of water in the vicinity, the villagers are constrained to live in water scarcity.

Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), in its effort to reach out to villages to address the issue of water scarcity, today installed water extraction facilities along with overhead tanks in Garigram and Churda villages of Patamda block. Nearly 45 households of Garigram and 80 households of Churda will benefit from these facilities.

Mr. Debdoot Mohanty, Head – Rural Services, Tata Steel dedicated the deep bore well facilities to the residents of these villages.

Respective Zilla paarshads, Mukhiyas, Pramukh, Ward Members, Mahila Samities and villagers along with TSRDS staff members attended the programme.
