Tata Steel constructs ICU in its hospital at Joda

Tata Steel Hospital added another feather in its chequered cap by setting up an ICU at the hospital which was inaugurated by Mr B Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel today, in presence of senior executives of the steel company, senior citizens of Joda and others. As a part of its commitment to the people of Keonjhar and Orissa, Tata Steel Hospital at Joda has been catering to the needs of the people in Keonjhar district of Orissa for more than half a century. Besides Joda, common people from Champua, Barbil and other places visit the hospital for specialized treatment apart from its employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Muthuraman said, "Tata Steel will continue to serve the community of Joda and Keonjhar as it has been doing in the earlier years and will further improve infrastructure facilities for periphery communities."

This newly constructed ICU has facilities like Pulse Oximeter, Oxygen concentrator, Infusin and Syringe pumps, Suction machine, ECG machine and many such sophisticated machines required for treating critically ill patients. This ICU in Tata Steel Hospital at Joda will be one of its kind in this mining belt.

Tata Steel Hospital, Joda is a 44 bed hospital and offers facilities like pathology, USG, ECG, X-Ray, Ultrasonography, Pediatrics, to name a few. It also has specialists on medicine, OBS & Gynecology, Anesthesia, Pediatrics, ENT, Skin etc. The hospital has a Blood Bank, which is one of the best Blood Banks in Orissa and is recognized by the Blood Bank Council of Orissa. Besides the main hospital, two dispensaries are also operating in Joda East and Bonaikela.

It is the only private hospital in Keonjhar district recognized under "Janani Suraksha Yojna" by the Health Services, Govt. of Orissa and also the only private hospital recognized by RNTCP funded by Denmark Tuberculosis Programme in Keonjhar district.

The commitment and popularity of Tata Steel Hospital in Joda is visible from the rise in treatment of OPD cases in this hospital over the years. While in 2002-03, around 83, 000 patients received treatment in the main hospital and in its dispensaries, in 2006-07; around 100,000 patients were treated in the main hospital as well as in the dispensaries. The steel company has invested a lot of time, money and resources during the past year to ensure the development of this hospital for securing better health standards for periphery community.

Tata Steel Hospital also conducts Health Camps and Health Awareness Programmes on Hypertension, Diabetic, Diet, Malaria, AIDS etc and Awareness Camps on malaria for school children and campaign against alcoholism.
