Tata Steel launches safety campaign on ‘Moving Machinery – Stop before Touch’

A safety campaign on “Moving Machinery- Stop before Touch” was launched today at Steelennium Hall for Q4, FY17.  The campaign was launched by Mr Sudhansu Pathak, VP Steel Manufacturing, Tata Steel, Mr Suresh Kumar, VP, Shared Services, Tata Steel, Mr R Ravi Prasad, President, TWU and Mr Vilas N Gaikwad, Chief Safety, Tata Steel India & SEA.

The objective of this campaign is to protect workmen from the hazards of moving machinery and to prevent accidents and incidents resulting from the use of moving machinery at work

During the function, the divisions who have contributed significantly in the FY’ 17, Q2 safety campaign on ‘Material Handling- Be Clear Stay Clear’ were also felicitated. Steel Manufacturing Division was awarded as THE winner, Shared Services Division as First Runner’s Up &Tubes Division as 2nd Runner’s up.

The event was attended by Chiefs, Heads, Front line supervisors, vendor partners, Union representatives from all division under Jamshedpur Works, whereas out locations of TSL India were connected through Video Conferencing.

For achieving the goal of zero harm as a part of Six Safety strategic priorities, theme based quarterly safety campaigns guideline was rolled out in FY’17 to address current major safety concerns such as  Slip/ Trip/ Fall & Hit /press by object, Material Handling, Rail & Road Safety.

Apex Training and Communication Safety subcommittee was the process owner for these safety campaigns under “Find It, Own It, Fix It” initiative. Employee Safety Competency Network team worked behind the scene for formulation of the guideline and smooth coordination for the safety campaigns throughout TSL India.
