Process Development
The Tata Steel Group is a major partner in the
multi-partner ULCOS (Ultra Low CO2 Steel making) project aimed at developing technology to achieve a 50% reduction of CO2 emissions per tonne of steel produced by 2050. Tata Steel is playing a key role in the further development of two of the technologies that have been selected for pilot-scale demonstration, i.e. a blast furnace that uses pure oxygen and top gas recycling and the smelting reduction based process called ISARNA.
