Samvaad - A Tribal Conclave 2014

As a part of the Affirmative Action initiatives, Tata Steel's Tribal Cultural Society, in its effort to revive, preserve and promote tribal culture, is organising 'Samvaad' - a four-day Tribal Conclave.

Amongst the many interventions that Tata Steel does, one relates to preservation and promotion of tribal culture, for which, Tata Steel had set up a Tribal Cultural Society in the 1990s.

Tribal Cultural Society, is organising ‘Samvaad’, a 4-day Tribal Conclave from 15th - 18th November 2014 at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur. November 15 happens to be Birsa Munda Jayanti and hence, apt for an event like this.

Samvaad - A Tribal Conclave witnessed a grand opening today. Mr T V Narendran, MD, Tata Steel dedicated the event to the tribals of India. A conglomeration of 2000 plus tribal artists, thought leaders, eminent personalities and activists celebrated the momentous occasion.

Day-2 at 'Samvaad' witnessed stimulating panel discussions, documentary screenings and cultural performances. The panel discussions were on 'Tribal livelihood' and 'Particularly vulnerable tribal groups' (PVTG) at the two auditoriums, Manthan and Chintan respectively. Hundreds thronged Bioscope to enjoy documentary films on tribal cultural heritage. The day also included a series of cultural performances by various tribes.

The day was marked by panel discussions at the two auditoriums, Manthan and Chintan with eminent panelists sharing insights on issues related to ‘Tribal Medicinal Systems’ and ‘Tribal Perspectives on Development’ respectively. Three documentary films on Tribal Culture were showcased at Bioscope followed by a series of tribal performances.

'Samvaad' - A 4-day Tribal Conclave concluded today. The conclave struck chord with the audience and proved to be a promising platform for the cause of tribals in India. The conclave received positive response and active participation from tribals, thought leaders, activists from more than 40 different tribes from across 19 states in the country.

The concluding day of Samvaad witnessed yet another set of engrossing panel discussions, inspiring documentary films screening and captivating cultural performances.
