Most of the contractor employees coming to work
in steel works are between 18-30 year and they are new to industrial scenario. Hence
contractors workers training is important.Three
days general safety training and specific training leading to certification of skills at
professional institute for contractors employees are some of the actions taken to
bridge the gaps. |

Large number of accidents occurs
in the middle/end of B-Shift indicating inattentiveness/ carelessness. Hence most of task
observation are being planned to carry out in B-Shift to observe compliance to risk
control measures. |

Road is major Hazard area
contributing maximum in major accident. Hence road safety has been focused during the
year. We plan to control road hazard by Calming of Traffic and putting speed
monitoring camera to control speed. |

Hazard of fall / struck by is
being eliminated. Cases of fall are being focused through use of safety belt/ full body
harness / use of net / use of permit for working at height.

LA8 INITIATIVES ON HIV & AIDS In line with HIV (+) and AIDS Control
Policy, and Alcohol & Drug Policy awareness programmes conducted by Community
Development & Social Welfare, Centre for Family Initiatives, Tata Steel Rural
Development Society, Tata Main Hospital, Occupational Health Services, Personnel
Department, Public Health, various Societies, Education Department, Corporate
Communications and Core Group AIDS coordinated by Nodal Centre AIDS.

Initiatives operates 25 clinics in the city of Jamshedpur, each of which conducts
HIV/AIDS awareness programmes. |

Community Development
& Social Welfare department create AIDS Awareness mainly in slum areas of the
city through 12 Main Centres and 4 Sub-Centres. |

Tata Steel Rural
Development Society operates a mobile medical team, which imparts education on
HIV/AIDS prevention and control measures. |
|
Tata Steel Tribal &
Cultural Society carries out health care and AIDS awareness programmes among the
tribal people.
