Tata Steel on Monday held the closing ceremony of National Fire Service Week at the Steelenium Hall

Tata Steel on Monday held the closing ceremony of National Fire Service Week at the Steelenium Hall, Jamshedpur Works. Mr Sudhansu Pathak, Vice President, Steel Manufacturing, Tata Steel was the Chief Guest and Mr R Ravi Prasad, President, Tata Workers’ Union graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. 

During the preceding week, several activities were organised for spreading awareness on fire prevention. National Fire Service Week gets organized across the country to spread awareness about fire safety.   

Some of the activities included release and distribution of fire prevention posters, fire awareness training at community centres and markets, awareness sessions on emergency preparedness at schools, online intranet quiz among Tata Steel employees, Inter-School emergency preparedness audit, demonstration on domestic fire safety for more than 300 homemakers, fire safety awareness session for 7,000 school children.

Hands on training on operation of fire extinguishers & fire hydrant for Tata Steel employees and out-sourced employees were organized by various departments.

Competition among trained ERT personnel took place on following aspects of disaster management: operation of breathing apparatus, fire extinguishers, fire hydrant & casualty transportation along with competition on search and rescue operation among fire brigade personnel. 

At Jamshedpur, Tata Steel Fire Services along with 10 members of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 9th Battalion Patna, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, conducted Disaster Management Awareness session, demonstration and practical training on Blood Control methods, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Secure injuries with splinting, use & making of improvised stretchers & mock drills at RMS School Sonari,  Dayanand Public School, Sakchi, DAV, Bistupur & RVS Academy Dimna, Mango.

First aid Fire Extinguishers training was also given at Loyola School, Jusco School Kadma, Jusco School South Park and Motilal Nehru Public School by Tata Steel Fire Service personnel, resulting in more than 7000 students being sensitized with respect to emergency care and fire control.
