100% employees (other than Officers) are represented by independent trade union organizations. The details of the trade unions at different locations are given in the box. The Officers do not have any association or union.

LA4 CONSULTATION AND NEGOTIATION WITH EMPLOYEES

Tata Steel is pioneer in the area of Joint Consultation in India and has a three tier Joint Consultation System that ensures participation of employees at all the levels including top management.

MD-online is another forum to share and interact with employees where Managing Director on 1st of every month (2nd if 1st is Sunday) communicates the performance through Telecast and receives feedback for more than one hour. Hotmail is another e-communication channel available on-line for employees to share their views and the feedback are provided within 48 hours from MD’s Office. Collective bargaining issues are discussed with the recognized unions at different locations on a regular basis. The joint consultative management system is presented under LA13.

The Personnel Manager of each department consult the employees and their families in the areas of Family Welfare, Savings, Education of Children and other issues related to domestic management.

LA13 EMPLOYEE PARTICIPATION IN DECISION- MAKING
Office Bearers of respective Unions are a member of Joint Consultative Committees of Management and in this forum they discuss all the issues excluding issues of collective bargaining.
