Figures 1a and 1b show a schematic of the
physical layout of the different components in the system.

Reception Yard (RY):
Rakes are received here and it has 15 numbers of tracks. Out of these, 12 are reserved for
rakes originating from source ADTY-side (Adityapur side) and 3 are for rakes from source
TATA-side. One track out of 12 and one track out of 1 are reserved for loco reversal and
returning empty rakes.
West Marshalling Yard
(WMY): Empty rakes are collated here from different unloading points and sent to place of
origin.
Track Hoppers 1 to 4:
These are unloading points for iron ore. Track hoppers 1 and 3 are dedicated for unloading
fine iron ore and track hoppers 2 and 4 are dedicated for unloading lump iron ore. Track
hoppers 1, 2 and 3 route the empty rakes through the WMY while empties from track hopper 4
return through the Reception Yard.
RMH Tipplers 1 and 2:
These are unloading points for coal.
PH#3: This tippler
handles coke exclusively. However, in the absence of a coke rake, it handles coal.
SP and NCP Tipplers:
Both these tipplers handle lime.
PH#4: This handles PCI
coal.
Table 1 gives the different storage
capacities proposed for the 2.4 MT expansion.
