In order to give young men and women of Chhattisgarh the opportunity to acquire technical skills in time for the construction and commissioning of the proposed steel plant, Tata Steel launched a vocational training programme on April 14. This will allow them to avail of job opportunities as they become available. Initially trades such as masonry, welding and electrical trade will be taught. The duration of the training programme for each batch is three months. Forms for the programme are being made available through the district administration. Preference is being given to families affected by the project. The Company has also established a counselling centre at Lohardiguda Block to provide information and guidance, so as to ensure that the maximum possible individuals take advantage of this opportunity.
