Tata BlueScope manufacturing facility goes on stream

The first roll forming and pre-engineered building facility of Tata BlueScope Steel at the IT Park, Hinjewadi, Pune was inaugurated on August 7, 2006. This is yet another milestone in the growth story of Tata Steel, which has gathered tremendous momentum and strength. Tata BlueScope Steel, a 50:50 joint venture between Australia’s BlueScope Steel and Tata Steel Ltd. is now all set to manufacture pre-engineered solutions under the brand name BUTLERTM and steel building solution under LYSAGHT.TM

The new facility, the Managing Director, Mr B Muthuraman believes reaffirms the intention of the two steel majors to create value in the steel business. “The building industry is experiencing rapid growth and this is an opportunity to showcase our range of product solutions to the construction industry.

“This is the first demonstration of the powerful partnership between BlueScope Steel and Tata Steel and we are proud of this. This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility incorporates a leading edge building design centre and will offer premium quality branded steel products to the building and construction markets of India and South Asia.”

The occasion was made even more memorable for the team as the joint venture’s corporate identity was also formally unveiled at the inauguration. “The logo depicts the strength of the two partners forged together in one powerful outcome, while the forward moving waves resemble the driving force of Tata BlueScope Steel and its ability to take on new challenges,” Mr Chetan Tolia, Managing Director of the Company explained while unveiling the logo.

Tata BlueScope Steel will have three roll forming and pre-engineered building facilities in India to serve different geographies. It will also construct a state-of-the-art metallic coating and painting facility at Jamshedpur.
