On July 23, as the shovel hit the ground,
the first step in the construction of the Six Million Tonne Steel Plant at Kalinganagar
was taken, with the earth removal work to build a boundary wall around the land allocated
to Tata Steel. Prior to the commencement of work, a puja was organised at the site. Top
officials of the District Administration including Mr S Mishra, District Collector and Mr
B Mishra, Superintendent of Police, Jajpur were presented at the site. Construction work
is being undertaken on the north-side near Nuagan village, parallel to the Duburi Jajpur
Road. The administration has been extremely proactive in resolving any instance of
opposition to the proposed project, expending considerable energy in explaining its merits
to the local villagers.

ICU to Bolangir The Tata
Steel Rural Development Society was given charge of constructing an Intensive Care Unit
(ICU) at the Government Hospital in Bolangir. Established at a total cost of Rs. 20 lakhs,
including electrical and electronic medical equipments it will provide immediate emergency
services for the first time in the area.
The Company is also committed to
training two doctors and two nursing staff of the hospital at Tata Main Hospital,
said Mr H M Nerurkar, Vice President, Kalinganagar Project, Orissa. The ICU was
inaugurated by Mr Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, Honble Minister for Works and Housing,
Government of Orissa on July 27. Both Mr Singh Deo and the CDMO thanked Tata Steel for
providing the state-of-the-art ICU to Bolangir. |

effort to conserve heritage Despite our pride in our heritage, lack of adequate attention, especially that of
professionals, has resulted in loss of part of it every year.
To address this problem in Orissa, Tata
Steel invited Mr. Karan Grover, along with his team of associate architects, to conduct a
workshop on the concept of Dhauli Peace Park, Khandagiri - Udaygiri Heritage Corridor and
a landscape plan for Bhubaneswar. The workshop was attended by top IAS officers of the
State. Their opinion was incorporated in the presentation made to the Chief Secretary of
the State and the Honble Chief Minister of Orissa.
The state of Orissa will shortly be
signing an MoU with IIT, Kharagpur for landscape planning of the city of Bhubaneshwar and
Vision-2025 for Bhubaneswar. Knowledge sharing is expected to be undertaken between M/s
