Books have
the power to make an individuals thought process well defined and
logical. Reading is, therefore, considered a virtue that not only enhances knowledge but
is also responsible for shaping the personality. It is in appreciation of this role of
books that a Study Centre was created for the employees of Sukinda. Inaugurated by Deputy
Managing Director (Corporate Services), Mr A N Singh on February 24, 2005, the fully
air-conditioned centre is equipped with computer facilities and boasts of a collection of
1300 books, which would be the envy of many.
The establishment of the Centre is
recognised as a concrete step towards creating a knowledge-led workforce and the Company
is certain that the new facility will be utilised optimally.

Even
while Varun Oraon was busy packing his bags,
he found it hard to believe that he is among the chosen few from the country to be
selected for a pre-season, conditioning and coaching camp at MRF Pace Foundation, Chennai,
commencing from May 1, 2005. His selection is however testimony to the fact that the Tata
Steel Cricket Training Centre at the J R D Tata Sports Complex is among the best in the
business.
Varun, a right-arm, pace bowler and a
Jamshedpur boy as well, will be attending a camp at the M R F Pace Foundation for which
only 20 boys across the country have been selected. Varun, who is a trainee at the Centre
will undergo rigorous training for a period of two months under the guidance of Mr Dennis
Lillee. Only 15 years of age, he has registered a speed of 135 kmph. He, however, hopes to
improve his line and length. Varun has also been cleared for selection to the state level

physical fitness. Sujit has, as a result come into his own especially in the last two
years. He excelled during the Under-22 matches versus Assam, Madhya Pradesh and more
