Women’s Health Camps

A health camp in progress

Reproduction and maternal health continued to be in focus since J R D Tata was an ardent advocate of social welfare, community development and family planning. On March 29, a women’s health camp was organised at Bansa, 25 kilometres from Jamshedpur and Mahadevnesa village near the Joda Iron Mines of the company. The Bansa camp was inaugurated by Dr P C Mahapatra, Hony Joint Secretary, TSRDS. In his address, he emphasised the importance of enabling women to remain healthy as “healthy women create a healthy family and healthy society.” This camp was attended by 200 women and adolescent girls, many of who were counselled and given free medicines after examination.
