for Dr Jamshed J Irani

Dr Jamshed J Irani has contributed tremendously to Indian Industry, the steel business and the Tatas in the 43 years that he has been working as a professional in India. As Director, Tata Sons and Member, Group Corporate Centre, he has brought to bear his immense capabilities and formidable knowledge in steel. As a corporate leader he has contributed to the strides made by the country and the Group. In June 2004, Dr Irani was invited by the Government of India to head the JJ Irani Committee, which was constituted for advising the Government on proposed revisions to the Companies Act, 1956.

During his tenure as Managing Director, Tata Steel, Dr Jamshed J Irani transformed the Company from one with aging steel manufacturing facilities to a new world leader. His focus on “improving the quality of life,” has benefitted every organisation,

It was, because of his immense contribution, that the Government of India honoured him with the country’s highest civilian honour, the Padma Bhushan, as part of its Republic Day

Celebrations. Dr Irani received the honour at a glittering function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan from His Excellency, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India. The Prime Minister, his cabinet colleagues and India’s leading citizens attended the function.

Welcome aboard

Mr Radhakrishnan Nair joined Tata Steel as Chief Human Resource Officer with effect from April 1, 2007. He is a B. Com (Hons) from Delhi University and Post Graduate in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
