The colliery, which is both ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 certified, produces 4.4 million tonnes of coal annually. In addition to producing coking coal, it also produces middlings and tailings. It has been successful in lowering the ash content and thereby improving the quality of coal. Improvement initiatives at the colliery have resulted in the direct injection of coal in blast furnaces and consequently a reduction in the coal usage rate.
