Impressed with the success of
Tata Steel's Green Millennium Campaign the Government of Orissa, Department of Forest and
Environment has asked the company to help green the state capital Bhubaneshwar. The city was once well known for its soothing climate. The super
cyclone, however, did irreparable damage to its green cover and made it completely loose
its green hue. The government alone is not in a position to find the resources to green
the city once again. Tata Steel was one of the first companies to respond to its request
to participate in this endeavour.
