ASPIRE

Mr B Muthuraman releases the book on TOP'S achivements

"Total Operational Performance - the TOP programme has saved the company over Rs 763 crores since its inception in 1999 till 2004. The real benefit has come in the way the programme has been structured, implemented and reviewed, which has brought about a transformational change in the mindset and culture of the company," the Managing Director said at the function to mark the changeover from the Total Operational Performance programme pursued by the company to ASPIRE- Hamari Aakansha.

"Launched this year, ASPIRE," he said, "will increase the speed of improvement and change set in place by its predecessor. Its objective is to make Tata Steel EVA+ under normal average steel prices, a goal yet to be achieved by any steel company in the world."

ASPIRE uses all the improvement tools - TOP, Quality Circles, Six Sigma, TPM and several others - already a part of the company culture in an organised manner to improve skills, calibre, quality and performance of the people comprising the company.

"TOP had added immeasurable value by training a large number of employees across the company in the process of systematic thinking and providing focussed solutions that can be implemented and are aligned to the company's overall vision," the Managing Director Mr B Muthuraman acknowledged.

During the function a short film "Janta ki Awaz" was screened, as well as the role of employees in the success of TOP shared by Mr R B B Singh.
