1915-18: Daily wages, free medical
facility and Welfare Department of the company established.
1919: Works Committee is set up
March 5, 1920: Firing on Workers by
English Officials.
March 20, 1920: End of strike. Leave with pay, Workers' Provident Fund
scheme and Worker's Accident Compensation implemented.
1928: Departmental strikes become general
strike. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is third President of Labour Association. Honourable
agreement reached. Maternity benefit implemented.
1934: Profit sharing given for the first
time in India.
December 9, 1938: Labour Association
registered in the name of Tata Workers' Union.
1942: Tata Steel employees through
representation of leaders of Tata Workers' Union join Quit India movement.
1948: Supervisory and Technicians unit set
up in Tata Workers' Union
January 8, 1956: Comprehensive Agreement
between Tata Steel and the Tata Workers' Union broke new ground in collective bargaining
and workers' participation in management.
1959: A new Agreement is signed between
TWU and Tata Steel to implement a new wage structure.

Agreements continue to strengthen bonds of industrial harmony
