Tata Steel's side-walling at New Market

The old lady of Kolkata is to receive a much awaited face-Iift and make-over. New Market in Kolkata, the oldest and best known shopping stop in the city, continues to wear its Raj credentials, albeit a little wearily. But that is soon to change, with the true red and Wimbledon green of the edifice ready to be consigned to history. It is slated to have a state-of-the-art automated underground car park, musical fountains, plazas, well-the works!

But like every artist's muse, New Market would also like to remain shrouded from the curious onlooker till she is ready to be unveiled. Also of course is the problem of protecting pedestrians from the hazards of falling debris and other unsafe situations at the construction site. Side walling was, therefore, considered necessary and that is when Tata Steel was asked to step in to provide Tata Shaktee GC sheets for a cladding with a difference. It gives them the strength of Shaktee, the resilience of Tata Steel and another moment of history with the Tata name.
