Contributions to society mark Founder’s Day

The colour and pageantry that is usually associated with the Founder’s Day celebration on March 3, this year had a distinct feel for society, especially with the out locations of the Company opting to enhancing the joy by engaging in social welfare work.
 
A Blood Donation camp was organised at Cold Rolling Complex (West) during which 32 employees donated blood to offer the assurance of safe blood to those in need. In Kharagpur, Bearings Division once again displayed its commitment to society and the Balaji Mandir Pally Unnayan Samity, by donating an ambulance to the organisation. The entire Division also received a commendation from Dr. T. Mukherjee, DMD, Steel for its performance during the year.
 
In Jamshedpur, each of the departments, business units and associate companies joined the traditional march past to pay homage to the Founder at the Steel Works. Colourful floats and contingents reflected their work and achievements during the year in the march past.

Visit of Millennium Steel’s top executives

There could have been no better introduction for the Millennium steel executives to the Tata Steel culture than being a part of the Company’s Founder’s Day celebrations. Mr. Santi Charukolrawee, President, Millennium Steel Public Company and senior company officials arrived at Jamshedpur on February 28, for a four-day visit to the steel city. The Millennium Steel executives, who will add to the strength of Tata Steel in Long Products, met the members of the Long Products team in Jamshedpur on their evening of their arrival.

Visits to the Centre for Excellence, Steel Works, construction sites of the ‘H’ Blast Furnace and Sinter Plant #4, as well as other Long Products facilities of the Company and its associates, provided them a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s capabilities. They also met top officials of the Company during their stay, including the Managing Director, Mr. B. Muthuraman and Deputy Managing Director, Steel, Dr. T. Mukherjee, both of who hosted dinners in the honour of the visitors.

Mr. Charukolrawee, who was the chief guest at the Founder’s Day celebrations, inaugurated the Founder’s Day exhibition and was present as the special display of lights at Jubilee Park was switched on to mark the celebration.
