FAMD leads the charge for the minerals business in India

Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division has been awarded the first prize in Category A (Large & Medium Scale Member companies) for “Significant Improvement in Productivity”. The Division has, since its creation as a profit centre achieved all time highs in production, sales and turnover during the current year. It reduced its working capital by 20% and at the same time increased turnover by as much as 40%.

The Manganese Mines, which came into the fold of the Division two years ago, have doubled their production in the last year through a complete restructuring of operations and increased exploration activity, all of which have put it on a steady growth path.
