Aruna storms into world arena

Aruna Mishra became the first Indian woman to win a world title. Aruna won the gold medal at the Women’s Boxing World Tournament held from April 27 to May 1, in the 66 kilogram category. Aruna, till recently on contract with the Company, was offered employment by the management for her splendid showing at international events.

At a function held at the J R D Tata Sports Complex on May 7, Aruna was felicitated for this exceptional performance by Mr A N Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Corporate Services. While thanking the Company for the support and encouragement to sportspersons to excel, Aruna attributed this win to the confidence reposed in her and the training received by her at the company’s Boxing Training Centre. Mr Singh presented her with an award of Rs 1 lakh. As a result of her hard work and this win, Mr Singh said, “Aruna has enhanced the image of the Company and the country.”

  

Bring glory to India and TFA - Cadets told
    
An outstanding cadet is honoured

At the 5th Annual Convocation of the Tata Football Academy, the Managing Director, Mr B Muthuraman and the chief guest at the function called upon the cadets to bring glory to both the country and TFA. On April 13, the fifth batch of cadets were presented their certificates after completing four-years of vigorous training at the Academy.

Considered the nursery of Indian football today, TFA cadets comprise a sizable part of the Indian football team. During their training at TFA, the Company attempts to imbue in them the same zeal for excellence through sports, that the company has in industry. “The company wishes to take India to new heights in sports,” Mr Muthuraman averred at the function.

The cadets have just graduated from the national Under-19 squad and are also much sought after by the various club coaches of the country.
