Historic Agreement settles Temporary Labour issue

In yet another historic agreement between the Tata Steel Management and the Tata Workers’ Union the long standing issue of temporary employees was settled. The agreement was signed by the Managing Director, Mr B Muthuraman and President, Tata Workers’ Union, Mr R B B Singh, in the presence of Mrs Nidhi Khare, Labour Commissioner, Government of Jharkhand and other executives and union officials of the company. The issue had been unresolved for over two decades.

Hailing the agreement as another step towards strengthening the industrial peace in the city, Mrs Khare asserted that its terms and agreements are much better than was expected. This, she said, is yet another testimony of the tradition of Union - Management cooperation.

Mr Muthuraman thanked Mrs Khare for the keen interest she had shown in facilitating the agreement. He emphasised the company’s intention to continue to improve the quality of life of the employees, and envisioned a day when every employee of the company would own a car.

Mr R B B Singh and the union officials present thanked the Management and the Labour department for their role in bringing the agreement to fruition.

Salient Features of the agreement

All temporary employees eligible for cash option in lieu of employment
Benefit under cash option ranging from minimum of Rs 50,000/- at 59 years of age and maximum of Rs 3,51,000/ up to 30 years.
Training and employment for matriculates and under 45 years of age
Recruitment will be as per new wage structure
They will be entitled to Annual Bonus, LTA and other allowances and benefits

    

    

TECH SAVVY TATA STEEL WINS COMMUNICATION AWARDS

Tata Steel’s technological abilities were very much in evidence in different light at the annual awards ceremony of the Association of Business Communicators of India. The Company won four first prizes and two second prizes for its application of the latest communication technologies, while reaching out to a large number of people in its target audience.
