9th National Youth Festival
Art, culture and traditions were the hallmark of the 9th National Youth Festival held at Jamshedpur from January 12 to 17, 2004. Inaugurated by His Excellency, the Governor of Jharkhand, Mr Ved Prakash Marwah and Mr Vikram Verma, Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, the festival gave the residents of Jamshedpur a kaleidoscopic view of the richness of Indian culture.

The inaugural function was a perfect curtain raiser for the colour and exuberance which was to storm Jamshedpur over the next several days. Organised into competitive and non-competitive sections, through the day the festival treated Jamshedpur to folk songs and dances, classical dance, drama, music recitals and adventure sports performances. It also included a convention for the youth. The steel city itself appeared transformed with 3000 participants representing every state of the country, as well as some from neighbouring countries, making it their home.
