No one is powerful enough to prevent change. The environment in
which we operate forces it on us. But we can influence it. We can influence it, provided
we manage the process of change well.
While shifting the thought process of the people might result in the
change desired, it is influenced more by showing a truth that influences their feelings.
And in a large organization like ours, the process of thinking changes through new
technologies, globalization, new strategies, mergers and acquisitions, e-business etc.
They don't essentially change organizational feelings, which come from truth.
In the last 15 years we have managed the environment well from Quality
Improvement Projects to Theory of Constraints. Our recognition in the international steel
arena is a proof of that. We are not an icon. But we want to be.
ASPIRE is a program launched in May 2003, which amalgamates the
aspirations of all of us to face the truth and take us to a height we aspire for. This
program revolves around the following concepts by Creating an Urgency (Aspiration),
Building the Team, Effective communication, empowering action, creating short-term wins to
facilitate momentum, and ultimately imbibing ASPIRE as a culture.
ASPIRE program has been evolved incorporating the best practices of
different improvement initiatives
