This group gives a focused attention to the research activities in Materials Modelling and Product Design. The underlying working philosophy of the group is to design, develop, integrate and implement systems and models using appropriate computing techniques, thereby enabling product development and analyses. At present, researchers in this group are working in four expertise areas: Thermal Sciences, Systems Design and Control, Forming and Surface Sciences.

The group focuses on developing the following domains of expertise:

• Furnaces (Reheating, Efficiency & Control)
• Mills (Lubrication, Property Prediction and Control, Microstructure Models, Drawing Dies & Rolls)
• Cooling (Conventional, Hybrid, UltraFast, Nano)
• Unconventional Processing (Laser, Plasma, Microwave)
