The aim of the Coated Product Research Group is to develop innovative coatings on steel products for superior characteristics, functionality or cost-effectiveness, and to develop and improve its coating application processes for the production of flat products, long products, tubes and wires.

The CP Group concentrates its activities mainly on the following areas:

• Metallic Coatings on steel – Major focus on galvanized and galvannealed steel for auto applications, non-zinc based coatings on steel sheets and development of zinc-alloy coatings for tubes and wires.

• Non-metallic Coatings on steel – Major focus on high speed organic coatings, chrome-free passivation, development of eco-friendly bio-coatings and photo-voltaic coatings.

• NDT - Development and application of Non-Destructive testing methods (e.g. ultrasonic, eddy-current, power ultrasonic, X-ray etc.) for service life prediction and material characterisation.
