Jamshedpur, December 02, 2002 Tata Steel has bagged 33 prizes in the just concluded
40th Annual Mines Safety Week celebration for the Chaibasa region at the final day
function was at Gua Iron Ore Mines in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on 1st December
2002. Mr. D Singh, Director Mines Safety was present as Chief Guest during the final day
function, while Mr. Madhu Koda, Honourable Minister of State, REO, Government of Jharkhand
and Mr. D Gupta, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, South Eastern Zone, Ranchi were
present as the Guest of Honour during this function. The concluding function was attended
by large number of dignified guests from Tata Steel SAIL, IISCO and other small mine
owners of the region.
OMQ Division of Tata Steel has bagged 19 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 3 third
prizes in the group events and in the individual events such as Drill, Dumper, Dozer,
Loader Operator Test, First aid test, Mechanic Trade Test & Electrician test. Joda
East Iron Mine (JEIM) & Noamundi Iron Mine (NIM) of Tata Steel have been awarded first
and second prize respectively for overall performance.
Winning of several awards at the Mines Safety Week celebrations bears testimony to the
safety practices being adopted at the Steel Company's area of operations.
