A memorandum of understanding was signed between Tata Steel and Tata International on 8th July 2002 in Kolkata with a view to maximising the group synergy in the global market. The MOU was signed by Mr B Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel, and by Mr Sudhir Deoras, Managing Director, Tata International Limited, in the presence of senior officials of Tata Steel and Tata International. The erstwhile International Trading Division of Tata Steel responsible for steel and mineral businesses will now be a part of Tata International Limited. The officers and staff members of erstwhile International Trading Division of Tata Steel will now be employees of Tata International Limited.
