Tata Steel has opened up its fourth
retail outlet, "steeljunction", at Behala today. This is
a smaller format of the store opened under "steeljunction"
express identity. The store would be run on a franchisee
model and is spread over an area of around 1600sq ft.
The store was inaugurated by Mr.
Rajeev Singhal, Chief Marketing & Sales (Long Products).
Other company officials including Mr. Sarvesh Kumar,
Chief (Retail Initiatives), Mr. Rajiv Soni, Head -
Marketing Communications and Mr. Kunal Kant, Sr. Manager
Retail were also present on the occasion.
The "steeljunction" store will retail
all the products made up of steel. The product
categories that will be sold through this outlet will
include furniture, utensils, life style products, safes,
almirahs and hardware items. All the Tata Steel brands
like Tata Shaktee Corrugated Sheets, Tata Pipes and Tata
Agrico (Agricultural Implements) would also be retailed
through this outlet. The objective of
Tata Steel venturing into the organised retail is to
change the perception of people towards steel and to
showcase steel as providing useful products that touch
people's life. The company is planning to open 5 more
stores by March 2008. The first store,
which was opened up in Kolkata, has generated very good
response from the people of Kolkata. The company hopes
to get similar response from the people of Behala also.
