Tata Steel Gives Better Health Facilities In Rural Orissa
~The Company has dedicated Six Air-Conditioned Cabins to
Koira Health Center~
Bhubaneswar, August 7, 2007
Tata Steel has dedicated six Air Conditioned Cabins to
the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Koira to provide better
health care for the people of Orissa. CHC Koira is the only
health centre in the Koira block, catering to a population
of around 35000 spread over 10 Panchayats having 180
Villages.
Prior to the newly constructed A/C Cabins the health
centre did not have a single cabin for the pregnant women
seeking treatment in the centre. This yeomen service by Tata
Steel would enable the patients of this region,
predominantly Adivasis to have easy access to health care
facilities. They will not have travel to Joda or Rourkela
hospital to obtain medical assistance now. In addition to
Air Conditioned Cabins, Tata Steel has also provided all the
required logistics like patient bed with mattress, bed side
locker, adjustable over bed table, attendant bed with
mattress, AC, geyser, water cooler, refrigerator and
telephone. The total project cost is Rs 17 lakhs.
The newly constructed cabins were inaugurated by Shri
John Deep, Sub-Collector, Bonai, and Dr. V.P. Sinha, G.M.
(Operations), FA&M Division, Tata Steel Ltd in the presence
of Dy. Director Mines, Koira Shri. S.N. Sahu, Forest Range
Officer, Md. Zamil, and doctors of Koira CHC and other
Government and many Senior Company officials including union
representatives.
Providing health facilities to the communities around it
has always been the priority for Tata Steel. The Company has
been upgrading health care facilities in the rural parts of
state of Orissa in general and its operational locations,
since it set foot in the state. Other such generous deeds of
the company include construction of an Intensive Care Unit
ICU in Bolangir and organizing a Mega Health Camp in the
remote areas of Malda in the Koira block, where more than
1500 patients were treated.
