Tata Steel joins the nation in celebrating the
performance of Indian sportspersons in the 15th Asian Games being held at Doha. This is a
momentous occasion for Tata Sports Academies; cadets from Tata Athletics Academy, Tata
Archery, Boxing and Tata Football Academy represented India in several events at Doha
Asian Games 2006 and brought glory to the nation.
Ms. Sinimole Paulose, a cadet of Tata Athletics Academy, won Bronze
Medal in 1500 Metres at the Doha Asian Games on 12th December 2006 and she also came 5th
in the 800 Metres event.
Mr. Jayanta Talukdar, the World Junior Archery Champion from Tata
Archery Academy, won Bronze Medal in the Archery Team Event. Indian Archery Team defeated
Malaysia, 207-212.
The following sportspersons associated with Tata Steel, represented
India in the Doha Asian Games.
Ms. Chitra K Somen : Won Gold Medal in 4X400 M
Relay,
Mr. Diwakar Prasad : Represented India in Boxing in 57 Kg weight
category,
Ms. Dola Banerjee: Represented India in Archery
Ms. Reena Kumari : Represented India in Archery
Ms. Chekrovolu Swuro : Represented India in Archery
Moreover, ex-cadets of Tata Football Academy were part of the Indian
football team which participated in the Doha Asian Games. The list of footballers includes
Surkumar Singh, Subhas Chakravorty, Syed Rahim Nabi, Habib-ur-Rehman Mandol, Debrata Roy,
Gour Mangi, Chandan Chitra Sen, Subrata Paul (GK) and Subhasis Roy Chowdhury ( GK ).
We would also like to inform you that Ms. Aruna Mishra, Sportsperson on
contract with Tata Steel has won a Bronze Medal at the recently concluded 4th World Women
Boxing Championship held at New Delhi from 17-24 November 2006.
