Tata Steel has granted scholarships under its Jyoti Fellowship
programme of Tribal Cultural Society, for Mr Sundar Mohan Hansda and Mr Ananta Lal Tudu
for their academic excellence. Mr Hansda has qualified for Indian Institute Technology of
Roorkee to pursue B. Tech in Computer Science and Mr Ananta Lal Tudu has qualified for
Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. The scholarship will cover all the academic
expenses, tuition fees and also hostel fees of these tribal students till completion of
their course.
Jyoti Fellowship Programme of Tata Steel is designed basically to
assist the meritorious tribal students to meet their academic expenses. The award is
available to all SC/ ST high-school students who are permanent resident of Singhbhum East/
West, Seraikela - Kharsawan, Ranchi, Hazaribag and Dhanbad districts of Jharkhand. Jyoti
fellowships were started in the year of 1990. In 2005-06, 390 students were given awards.
This year about 1000 students have appeared to qualify for the Jyoti Fellowship out of
which 400 students will be selected for the scholarship.
