Tata Steel Pavilion at the 19th World Mining Expo being held at Pragati Maidan, New
Delhi, has been conferred the Special Commendation Award. The Award was presented to Tata
Steel today at a glittering function held at Hall No: 7 Auditorium of Pragati Maidan by
Mr. Ramesh Bais, Minister of State for Mines (Independent Charge), Government of India.
The Tata Steel Pavilion "Mining: the CORE of Excellence at Tata Steel"
displays the following:

::.. Tata Steel: Committed to Excellence
::.. Intrepid Explorers: The Beginning of an Era
::.. Mining the Black Diamond: Coal
Included in the exhibit is information on West Bokaro Collieries, Jharia Division
Collieries, Noamundi Iron Mine, Joda East Iron Mine and Gomardih Dolomite Quarry. The
exhibit is situated in Pavilion No. 1206, Hall No.11 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
The exhibition site covers a total area of 1500 sq mtrs, which is the longest space,
occupied by any exhibition held at the Pragati Maidan and a total of 300 exhibitors have
put up their pavilions. 58 countries have participated in the Expo with many big
corporates and industries, publication houses, NGOs, Central and State Governments and
public and private sector undertakings.
Incidentally, Mr.Karia Munda, Honourable Minister of Coal, Government of India, visited
the Tata Steel Pavilion on the inaugural day World Mining Expo 2003. Mr. Arjun Munda,
Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Ravindra Rai, Minister of Industries, Government of
Jharkhand, Ambassadors of other countries and many foreign delegates from China, Japan etc
have also visited the Tata Steel Pavilion.
