Mr. R P Sharma, Head, Environmental Management, Tata Steel, has been
selected as one of the Best Environmental Manager by the Centre for Science and
Environment (CSE), New Delhi, along with Mr. Y K Saxena of Ambuja Cement and Mr L
Ramakrishna of Phillips India.
CSE, a leading non-governmental organization, has commenced Green
Rating Project for different industrial sectors in India. They have also initiated a
competition for Best Environmental Manager Award and entries were received from
environmental executives from a wide range of industries such as chemicals, cement, steel,
pharmaceuticals, aluminium, electrical appliances/instruments etc.
The jury to select the Best Environmental Manager was headed by Dr
Manmohan Singh, former Finance Minister of India. The panel includes eminent
environmentalists such as Mr. K P Nyati, Head, EMD, CII, New Delhi among others. A team of
experts from the organization has also visited shortlisted candidates for this award for
intensive verification of their achievements in this field.
Mr. R P Sharma, who is heading the Environmental Management Division of
the Company, has implemented many environmental management systems and corporate
sustainability management system in Tata Steel.
