In less than three months, after lighting up the first coke oven, Hooghly Met Coke and Power Company Ltd dispatched its first consignment of coke to Tata Steel on December 9, 2007. Mr H M Nerurkar, Chief Operating Officer, Steel, Tata Steel Ltd received the first consignment on behalf of the Company.
The arrival of Coke from Haldia Met Coke marks the steady progress of the Company towards self-sufficiency in coke.
