Tata Steel team wins Young Managers Championship

Tata Steel team comprising of Mr.Amit Mazumdar, Mr.Ashutosh Dixit and Mr.Sarajit Jha have won the National Championship of 28th National Competition for Young Managers, held on August 17, 2002 at New Delhi. As a privilege of the Champion Team, they will be hosted by the Malaysia Institute of Management for one week training programme called "Thora 2002" at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 22 to 29th September, 2002.

The annual National Competition for Young Managers (NCYM) is organised by the All India Management Association (AIMA). The NCYM is an annual exercise aimed at setting young 'Corporate' minds ticking. It involves several rounds of paper presentations on the issue relevant to the Indian Economy.

The 28th NCYM contest saw 105 companies participating, out of which eight were selected for the final round. These eight teams included two from Tata Steel, two from the NTPC and one each from Asian Paints, Motor Industries Company Ltd, Hindustan Motors Ltd and Lucas TVS. The criterion for judging the best team ran along broad parameters of innovation, creativity, depth of research, quality and ability to answer questions.

The Best Team Trophy went to Tata Steel, while Asian Paints, Mumbai, was the first runners-up and NTPC , New Delhi , was the second runners-up.
