Dr  Jamshed   J   Irani,  Chairman,  Tata  Teleservices  and   former Managing Director,  Tata  Steel,  has  been conferred the prestigious twelfth annual Willy Korf Steel Vision Award by the World Steel Dynamics. The  Willy   Korf  award is given to those individuals who have made a major contribution   to  the  steel industry in terms of advancing change while at the same time promoting goodwill and integrity in the industry. The World Steel Dynamics in its communique states: "through your vision and keen business sense as Managing Director, Tata Steel has made extraordinary advances,  including   sizeable  cost reductions, improved labour efficiency and   upgraded    product    mix.   What's  more,  you   have  done  so   while demonstrating  the  utmost   integrity  and professionalism.  Tata Steel now appears  to be among just a few steel mills in the world that can be called "World Class" producers." Dr  Irani   will  receive  this  award   at the Steel Success Strategies XVII Conference to be held on 18th and 19th June 2002 in New York.
