The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at its 8th
Quality Summit at Bangalore announced that Tata Steel would be conferred the CII-EXIM
Award 2000 - one of the most coveted awards for corporate houses. Hewlett Packard Ltd. was
the first business house to win the Award, announced by CII-EXIM in 1995, in 1997 followed
by Maruti Udyog Ltd. in 1998. Tata Steel was conferred Certificate of Commendation in
these years.
The CII-EXIM Award modeled on the lines of EFQM (European Foundation
for Quality Management) seeks to evaluate corporations on the parameters of leadership,
policy and strategy, people, partnerships and resources, process, people results, customer
results, society results and key performance results and visiting concerning industries.
The assessment team led by Mr. R Srinivasan, Ex - MD, WIDIA (India) Ltd. included
academicians, quality professionals and experienced practicing managers
