Maple Leaf International Award for Tata Steel
Jamshedpur, October 07, 2005

Mr Prashant Kumar of Tata Steel’s Procurement Division and Mr Shiva Prakash Rao of TCS have been declared winner of “Maple Leaf International Award 2005” for their paper titled “Best Practices in Global Supply Management – What are the benchmarks?”. While this is a hat trick for India, for the first time the award has been won by a team twice in two consecutive years. The International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) announced this award in Beijing, China on 14th Sep’05.

The Maple Leaf Award is a prestigious international award organized through an annual competition amongst authors who have written actual and future oriented papers concerning the purchasing and supply management profession and its development. The team from Tata Steel has made its way to the worldwide finals by clearing regional and national competition. The Tata Steel team has won this against stiff competition from teams from several countries like UK, Hong Kong, China, India and others. In all, 30 countries across the world participated in the competition.

Representing 43 purchasing and materials management associations and over 150,000 purchasing professionals around the globe, the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) is a pioneering organization promoting purchasing excellence.
