Jamshedpur, October 07, 2005 Mr Prashant Kumar of Tata Steels
Procurement Division and Mr Shiva Prakash Rao of TCS have been declared winner of
Maple Leaf International Award 2005 for their paper titled Best
Practices in Global Supply Management What are the benchmarks?. While this is
a hat trick for India, for the first time the award has been won by a team twice in two
consecutive years. The International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management
(IFPSM) announced this award in Beijing, China on 14th Sep05.
The Maple Leaf Award is a prestigious international award organized through an annual
competition amongst authors who have written actual and future oriented papers concerning
the purchasing and supply management profession and its development. The team from Tata
Steel has made its way to the worldwide finals by clearing regional and national
competition. The Tata Steel team has won this against stiff competition from teams from
several countries like UK, Hong Kong, China, India and others. In all, 30 countries across
the world participated in the competition.
Representing 43 purchasing and materials management associations and over 150,000
purchasing professionals around the globe, the International Federation of Purchasing and
Supply Management (IFPSM) is a pioneering organization promoting purchasing excellence.
