Tata Steel has been awarded Engineering Export Promotion Council National Award for outstanding export performance for the year 2000-2001 sponsored by Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India

The award function held on 26th September,2003 in the Crystal Ballroom, Intercontinental The Grand, New Delhi. Mr. Arun Jaitley, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry was present and gave away the Awards. Dr. T Mukheerjee, Dy. Managing Director (Steel), Tata Steel received the Award for Tata Steel.

Tata Steel has successfully acquired several Certificate and Standards of Quality to meet International standard such as EURONORM Standard for HR coils/CR Coil/ Galvanized Coils for the European market, ASTM (American Society of Testing Material) Standard for serving the US market, API( American Petroleum Institute ) Standard for Line Pipes, for expanding its presence in Middle East and Korea , JIS (Japanese Industrial Spec) Standard for HR/CR and GI Coils for serving the Far East/South East Asia Market.

During the period Tata Steel has exported its products like HR/CR/ wire Rod / Billet / ETP / Ferro Alloys Products / Tubes to all over the world and focused on creating high end and value added niches for its steel exports. Tata Steel exported product like HR/CR/ and Galvanized to new markets in Europe and China and also developed Kenya market for CR.

Tata Steel is also winner of several National and regional awards for export promotion in the recent past
