Bangladesh was yet to limp back to normal from the aftermath of the previous flood, when Nature’s fury hit again. SIDR, an even more intense hurricane than the last one the country faced, hit the country on November 15, 2007. It claimed over three thousand lives and loss of crop and property. The Government was left with no choice but to approach the international community for relief.
The Tata Group once again responded with a contribution of taka 2 million. The cheque was handed over to General Moeen U Ahmed, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh on December 10, 2007. Despite global growth requiring tremendous resources, the Group has not hesitated to assist Bangladesh. It had also contributed a similar amount during the last flood allow the country to undertake relief operations.
