Jagannathpur Inter College will soon get two science laboratories. The foundation stone for two science laboratories was laid by Tata Steel at Jagannathpur Inter College today.

Mr Pankaj Satija, General Manager, OMQ (Ore Mines & Quarries) Division, Tata Steel laid the  foundation stone of the science laboratories to be constructed by Tata Steel for Rs 40 lakhs. Each laboratory will be of 1000 square feet and will have a corridor connecting the laboratories.

Addressing the students and teachers of the college, Mr Satija said: “Tata Steel is committed to promoting quality education and providing infrastructure in schools and colleges in all its areas of operation. Tata Steel has been addressing the educational needs of different age and gender groups by increasing access to education, especially in rural areas. I am sure that the science students in this college will able to hone their skills in scientific experiments by making the best use of these laboratories.”

The Jagannathpur Inter College in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand was establised in the year 1982 and has about 1200 students studying in the college at present, out of which 200 students are studying science.  The college, at present, uses the classrooms for conducting science experiments as it does not have a dedicated laboratory for science. The principal of the college, Mr Sanatan Sundi thanked Tata Steel for providing infrastructure support to the college.

Mr Soma Koda, Secretary, Jagannathpur Inter College, Dr K N Pradhan, Principal of Degree College, Mr Tiril Tiriya, Member, Ho Mahasabha, students and staff of the Jagannathpur Inter College, Mr K C Das, Head Administration, OMQ Division, Tata Steel and officials of Tata Steel Rural Development Society were present on the occasion.
