Tata Steel observed the World Environment Day on June 5, 2016 at Centre for Excellence, CH Area, Jamshedpur. This year, a number of events were conducted to mark the special occasion around the current theme - “Go wild for life – Zero tolerance for illegal wildlife trade”. Some of the events were debate and painting competition for children,Greenathon - A run/walk for environment, MASS on water conservation, online environment quiz,best article competition on environment conservation, film show on wildlife & tree plantation drive across the company.

Mr S K Pati, Chief, Environment Management Tata Steel was the Chief Guest and Mr G M Sharan,Head Special Projects, CSR, Tata Steel was Guest of Honour. Winners of debate and painting competition, online environment quiz and environment best articles were recognised and awarded in the function. Best EHS coordinators and EHSMS auditors were also recognised and awarded in the function.

Mr Pati said that Tata Steel is committed towards its responsibility to protect environment and conserve natural resources. He said there is a need to spread awareness towards protection of wildlife across all segments. Mr Sharan said that all of us should put their combined effort towards sustainable development.
