Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board Awards Tata Steel on World Environment Day 2016

Three prizes won by Tata Steel in Mining and Industry categories



Tata Steel has won three prizes on World Environment Day for commendable work done in the area of environment protection and improvement by Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB). The company bagged prizes for its iron ore mine at Noamundi , coal mines at West Bokaro Division in the Mines category and a prize in the Industry category by the Jamshedpur Steel Works. These Divisions/ Unit have been receiving awards from JSPCB in the past three consecutive years.

The awards were presented during a seminar on “Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources” organized by JPSCB at Ranchi. Shri C P Singh, Hon’ble Minister, Urban Development, Housing and Transport Department, Govt. of Jharkhand was the Chief Guest for the seminar. Smt. Rajbala Verma, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Jharkhand presided the inaugural session.

The award to Jamshedpur Steel Works and Noamundi Iron Mine was given by Mr Sukhdev Singh,Principal Secretary, Department of Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Govt. of Jharkhand and was received by Mr Shailesh Verma, Chief Resident Executive, Ranchi, Tata Steel, Mr Shubhanand Mukesh, Head, Environment, Tata Steel and Mr Diamond Sinha, Resident Executive, Ranchi, Tata Steel.

The award to West Bokaro Division was given by Mr A K Rastogi, Special Secretary, Department of Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Govt. of Jharkhand and was received by Mr Vianyak Deshpande, Senior Manager, Environment -West Bokaro, Tata Steel.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were A K Prabhakar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Govt. of Jharkhand, Dr D D Sharma, Chairman, JSPCB and Mr S K Suman, Member Secretary, JSPCB.
