43rd Annual Conference of Jamshedpur Obstetric and Gynecological Society (JOGS)

Jamshedpur Obstetrics & Gynecological Society (JOGS) today inaugurated its 43rd Annual Conference atHotel Ramada, Jamshedpur. Mrs Ruchi Narendran graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Some of theother dignitaries present on the dais were Dr Pankaj Desai (Guest of Honour) and Dr A K Debdas(Patron), Dr Ragini Singh (President) & Dr Mousumi Das Ghosh (Secretary).

Mrs Narendran spoke about maternal mortality rates in India which is very alarming. She stressed on thefact that women should take out time from their day to day activities to have health checkups so thatdisease can be detected early

The theme for the conference was ‘Early detection & Efficacy matters Most". The conference focused onGynecological malignancies. Recent advances on the subject, Vaccine myths and newer horizons. Theexperts on the subject present in the function were Dr Zoha from Columbia Asia Hospital, Kolkata, DrRosina Ahmed & Dr Asima Mukhopadhyay from Tata Medical Centre, Kolkata, Dr Bhattacharya fromFortis Hospital.

The experts discussed on all malignancies like Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Ovarian cancer & uterinecancer have good prognosis if detected early.Dr Pankaj Desai from Baroda spoke on Pregnancy &Diseases of blood vessels.

JOGS is an old association from Jamshedpur. It was started in 1974 with the help of Tata Steel. Themembers meet every month for academic discussions and seminars. They also work for social cause like-Save the Girl Child campaign, Women empowerment and Awareness in the society. JOGS comes underthe aegis of mother body - FOGSI (Federation of Obstetricians & Gynecologists of India).
