Mr HM Nerurkar ushers in the New Year at Tata Main Hospital with inauguration of new facilities

Jamshedpur, January 02, 2012

~Shri Raghunath Pandey expresses happiness on the initiatives taken by TMH to improve facilities~

Mr HM Nerurkar, Managing Director, Tata Steel ushered in the New Year – 2012 at Tata Main Hospital (TMH), Jamshedpur by inaugurating two new facilities at TMH on 2nd January, 2012. Mr Nerurkar dedicated ‘Ashraya’ a new shelter/resting area for relatives of outstation patients, where relatives of outstation patients may rest with some comfort while waiting for news on the progress in treatment of their loved ones. ‘Ashraya’ fulfills a long standing requirement from many of TMH’s clients who come from outside Jamshedpur.

Mr Nerurkar also inaugurated a new High Dependency Unit (HDU) with 40 beds at the 2B Post Operative Ward in the JGMH building dedicated to serving vulnerable patients after surgery as well as injured patients. The design of the new HDU reflects a marked enhancement in the design of new wards and offers a glimpse of the way in which different patient treatment areas will be conceptualized as and when they are renovated. This new gift to the people of Jamshedpur also keeps in mind their demand for more critical care beds in TMH’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU). The HDU will augment the critical care services of TMH with its facilities that include availability of a number of monitors, piped oxygen, compressed air and vacuum as well as ventilators in the unit. This will enable the medical staff to deal with critical patients better.

Mr H M Nerurkar, in his address to the audience, congratulated TMH for the dedication and initiative taken in dealing with the unprecedented patient load flowing into the hospital during the recent viral epidemic and inspite of the strain on their resources and the demand from the community, the entire Medical Services team maintained a remarkable level of professionalism and service focus. Mr Nerurkar also mentioned that there is a need to provide a secure, amenable and thriving work environment to the medical staff whose tireless effort requires adequate appreciation to not only keep their morale high but to retain their talents at Jamshedpur. Mr. Nerurkar also made a mention of the on-going plans to rejuvenate the hospital, its facilities and the capabilities of the 104 year old hospital for the coming century in service to the people it serves.

In his address to the gathering, Mr Raghunath Pandey expressed happiness and appreciation on the number of initiatives taken by TMH’s team to improve the facilities of the hospital to the people. He said that a concerted effort needs to be made to publicize these achievements to create awareness among Tata Steel employees and the general community. Dr Madhusudanan too appealed to the community to encourage and collaborate with the medical staff of TMH to enable progressively better service levels to be provided. It is the duty of responsible members of the community to maintain a harmonious relationship between the community and TMH as both can grow only together.

The inauguration of new facilities was followed by a cake cutting ceremony on the second floor of the JGMH building. At the venue, the TMH team had displayed (through display boards) new initiatives undertaken by TMH. Dr TP Madhusudanan, General Manager (Medical Services) explained to the guests the advantages that these new initiatives will bring to the people TMH serves. Mr Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Corporate Services) Tata Steel; Mr AM Mishra, Vice President (CSI & IR) Tata Steel; Mr Manish Sharma, Managing Director (JUSCO); along with the senior management of TMH, various personnel from Corporate Services division, JUSCO and from other divisions of Tata Steel also graced the occasion.
